CAMEMBERT D'ISIGNY
The Product
An authentic Camembert from the prestigious Isigny Sainte-Mère dairy, crafted in the traditional Norman style. Encased in its characteristic white bloomy rind, this Camembert offers a rich, earthy flavor with notes of mushroom and cream that deepen beautifully as the cheese ripens toward its center.
Origin & Terroir
Camembert's story begins in 1791 in the village of Camembert, Normandy, attributed to Marie Harel. Isigny Sainte-Mère honors this heritage using the rich, terroir-driven milk of Normandy's lush green pastures. The maritime climate of the Isigny region gives the milk — and thus the cheese — its distinctive character.
How to Enjoy
Bring to room temperature and enjoy with crusty bread or bake whole in its box at 180°C for a spectacular melted centerpiece. Pair with a dry Normandy cider, a fruity Pinot Noir, or a glass of Calvados. Serve with apple slices for a classic Norman combination.
Did You Know?
During World War I, Camembert was distributed to French soldiers and became a powerful symbol of French identity and patriotism. The distinctive round wooden box was invented in 1890 by engineer Ridel, enabling Camembert to be transported safely across long distances for the first time.
