TOMME DE MONTAGNE 7 FLEURS

MAISON LOSTE CHEESES FRENCH CHEESES
TOMME DE MONTAGNE 7 FLEURS

The Product

Traditional semi-firm mountain cheese from the Savoie Alps. Mild, nutty, and slightly earthy with a rustic gray rind. An everyday eating cheese in Savoie.

Origin & Terroir

From the Savoie and Haute-Savoie departments where alpine pastures provide aromatic milk. Originally made from leftover milk after cream was removed for butter, making it lower in fat than many French cheeses.

How to Enjoy

Excellent on cheese boards, melted in raclette or fondue, or in traditional Savoyard cooking. Pairs with Savoie wines (Apremont, Chignin) or light reds. The rind is edible but often removed due to rusticity.

Did You Know?

"Tomme" comes from Greek "tomos" (to cut) or local dialect "tome" (cheese). The gray mold on the rind is natural and desirable - it's not cleaned off. Each wheel weighs 1-2kg. Tomme was historically peasant cheese, now appreciated for its authentic mountain character.
