CROTTIN DE CHEVRE
The Product
Small, aged goat cheese from the Loire Valley. As it ages, the paste becomes denser and the flavor more intense, developing from mild and creamy to sharp and complex.
Origin & Terroir
Traditional to the Loire Valley, particularly Sancerre region. The chalky soils and temperate climate create ideal conditions for goat farming. Each crottin weighs only 60g, perfectly proportioned.
How to Enjoy
Young: fresh and mild, perfect with Sauvignon Blanc. Aged: warm it on salad or toast, drizzle with honey, pair with Sancerre or Pouilly-Fumé. Can be grilled whole and served with greens.
Did You Know?
The name "crottin" comes from "crot," a small terracotta oil lamp its shape resembles - not from "crotte" (droppings) as often joked! Crottin de Chavignol is the most famous version with AOP status. As it ages, it develops a harder texture and concentrated flavor.
