TOMME DE SAVOIE
The Product
Tomme de Montagne 7 Fleurs is an artisanal raw cow's milk cheese, often from the Montbéliarde breed, whose rind is coated with a mixture of seven types of wildflowers (such as dandelion, rose, and cornflower), giving subtle floral and herbaceous notes to this uncooked pressed cheese, typical of the French mountains.
Origin & Terroir
From the Savoie and Haute-Savoie Alps, where Tomme has been made for centuries by mountain farmers. This is one of France's most ancient and traditional cheese styles.
How to Enjoy
Excellent on cheese boards, melted in raclette or fondue, or in Savoyard cooking. Pairs with Savoie wines (Apremont, Chignin) or light reds. The rustic rind is edible but often removed.
Did You Know?
Tomme was historically the peasant cheese of the Alps, made from leftover milk after cream was removed for butter. Each wheel weighs 1-2kg and develops its distinctive gray, mottled rind naturally.
