BRIE DE MEAUX

MAISON LOSTE CHEESES FRENCH CHEESES
BRIE DE MEAUX

The Product

The "King of Cheeses," crowned at the 1815 Congress of Vienna. Authentic Brie de Meaux is creamy, mushroomy, and complex - very different from factory Brie.

Origin & Terroir

Made exclusively in the Île-de-France region east of Paris using raw milk. Only five dairies still make true AOP Brie de Meaux. The chalky Brie terroir is essential to character.

How to Enjoy

Serve at room temperature when the interior is flowing. Pair with Champagne (they're from the same region!), red Burgundy, or Bordeaux. Traditionally eaten on baguette. The rind is edible and flavorful.

Did You Know?

At the 1815 Congress of Vienna, diplomats held a cheese competition - Brie de Meaux won! Charlemagne supposedly loved it. True Brie de Meaux uses raw milk and is hand-ladled. The wheels are large (3kg) and flat, with a white bloomy rind.
