Origin & Terroir
From the volcanic soils of Auvergne's Monts Dore region. The unique terroir - altitude, grass species, water - creates distinctive flavor. Only 80 farms still make fermier Saint-Nectaire.
How to Enjoy
Serve at room temperature to appreciate the earthy complexity. Pairs with Auvergnat wines (Côtes d'Auvergne) or Beaujolais. Excellent melted in aligot or on baguette with butter. The rind is edible and adds flavor.
Did You Know?
One of France's five oldest cheeses, mentioned in writings from 1050 AD. Each fermier wheel is made by hand from one farm's milk. The cheese rests on rye straw during aging, creating a mottled rind. Look for the green oval label indicating fermier quality.
