The Product
Traditional charcuterie specialty from Sarthe, characterized by their artisanal production from selected pieces of pork (shoulder, loin) which are cooked for a long time in their own fat, seasoned with salt and pepper, to obtain a fibrous and melting texture, ideal for an aperitif on toasted bread.
Origin & Terroir
From Le Mans in the Sarthe department, which holds PGI protection for its rillettes. The region's specific preparation method creates a particularly fibrous, spreadable texture.
How to Enjoy
Spread generously on toasted country bread or baguette. Best at room temperature when the fat softens. Classic pairing with cornichons and a glass of dry Vouvray or Chinon.
Did You Know?
Rillettes du Mans differ from Tours-style by having a coarser, more fibrous texture. The Sarthe region has produced them since the 15th century. The best use only pork shoulder and belly.
