MAISON LOSTE CHEESES FRENCH CHEESES
BREZAIN

The Product

A traditional washed-rind cheese from Franche-Comté. Soft, creamy interior with aromatic orange rind. Similar in style to Époisses but with distinct character.

Origin & Terroir

From the Jura region where washed-rind cheeses are a specialty. The local eau-de-vie or wine used for washing creates regional character.

How to Enjoy

Serve at room temperature when oozy. Pair with Jura wines (especially Vin Jaune), Burgundy, or beer. Spread on bread with cornichons. The pungent rind is edible but strong - try it first!

Did You Know?

Washed-rind cheeses are washed regularly with brine, beer, or spirits during aging. This creates the distinctive orange color and pungent aroma. Despite the strong smell, the flavor is actually quite mild and creamy. These cheeses are called "fromages qui puent" (stinky cheeses) - a term of endearment!
